Who is Renu Bhatia, the woman responsible for initiating action against the Ashoka University professor?

The arrest of Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad, who caused a stir with a contentious post on the Operation Sindoor briefings, was largely eased by Renu Bhatia, the cochairwoman of the Haryana State Women’s Commission.
Mahmudabad was initially named by Bhatia, one of the complainants in the Ashoka University professor comment case, due to his social media post about Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi. The professor was arrested following her complaint, which also sparked public debate.

Renu Bhatia is who?
Bhatia was born in Srinagar and comes from a Punjabi- Kashmiri family that saw the chaos of the revolution times in Kashmir. Bhatiya has about forty times of political experience and is a devoted member of the BJP.
According to her LinkedIn profile, she started her political career in 2000 as a external councillor in Faridabad and subsequently rose to the position of deputy mayor. She remained a prominent figure in Haryana politics indeed after losing her 2010 election campaign.
In January 2022, Bhatia was appointed as the chairperson of the Haryana Women’s Commission. Her tenure has been extended until 2025.
According to media sources, her commission has roundly pursued matters pertaining to women’s rights, including a significant inquiry into sexual importunity in Jind quarter that involved over 100 girls.
A formal complaint was also filed by the commission in 2023 against Sameena Dalwai, a professor at O P Jindal Global University, for allegedly” outraging the modesty” of womanish pupils.

Mahmudabad was arrested following Bhatia’s suo motu action and the subsequent complaint..
